Junifer Meter Data Management (MDM)

With the implemetation of Smart Meters and the associated AMR systems, Utilities now possess vast amounts of data that without the appropriate systems could prove more of a hinderance than the asset it should be.

Managing this data in a coherent productive manner is the basis behind the development of Meter Data Management systems. Junifer Systems’ experience of large volume data processing from it’s Telcomms background ideally positions Junifer to tackle this issue.

An MDM system provides a single core repository where all smart meter data can be validated, corrected, loaded and then made available for other downstream applications such as billing and forecasting.  If the meter data is collated in a consistent manner it can provide a tool for the entire business from outage prediction through to new product validation. 

Smart Meter Agnostic

As smart meters evolve Utility companies may change supplier or decide to have multiple suppliers.  It is therefore advisable to have a MDMS from a Smart Meter independent vendor so that there is no limitation on the importing of data.  The Junifer MDM platform is Smart Meter agnostic and interfaces can easily be provided to all makes and models.

Revenue Assurance

The Junifer MDM system enables consumption patterns to be analysed that can indicate defective meters or usage fraud.  Where a consumers usage remains static regardless of a cold or very warm period this can also indicate the meter is defective or there is some tampering in effect. Through this proactive analysis utilities can generate more revenue and also deliver a better service to customers.  In some parts of the world theft can account for up to 20% or more of power consumption.  

Outage Alerts

Predefined and user defined Alerts are a major part of any MDM system.  As data is delivered from the AMR system the Junifer MDM system will immediately process the data ensuring that any alerts set are activated as early in the process as possible.

Comprehensive Report

The Junifer MDM product also provides comprehensive reporting tools for the analysis of the underlying data.  Customers are encouraged to familiarise themselves with the underlying data model which then enables them to develop reports to their own specific requirements.
