Utility Operators

For the utility (gas, water, electricty and waste) operator, our CIS & Billing products enable them to process the significant increase in data volumes (compared with the traditional utility billing estimate model) and also provides the business with a flexible, scalable and cost effective solution on which the business can build it's unique offering.

With the advent of competition in the utility market, operators must be in a position to offer innovative products and pricing mechanisms to reduce customer churn.   With strong directives emanating from governments, it is essential that the utilities work to reduce carbon emissions, reduce waste, become more efficent and ultimately encourage their customers to reduce their overall energy footprint.  This can be achieved by providing customers with educated information on their energy usage coupled with peak / off-peak energy plans.   This will ultimately enable the customer to adapt their lifestyle achieving a greener carbon footprint and smoothing the overall energy demand for the utility. With the advent of feed in tariffs encouraging local generation of power, systems must cater for both production and consumption of energy by the end user.

The volumes associated with Smart Meter rollout are staggering.  For instance in just the first two hours of operation, a Smart Meter implementation will generate the same amount of usage data on a customer as would have been manually recorded in the previous year.  In just 10 days, it will generate more data that would have been collected in the previous 100 years.  Utilities so far have been focused on the hardware and communications aspects of their Smart Meter rollout programs.  Now emphasis is moving towards how best to maximise the value of their investment and particularly the data streaming in from the millions of new measuring devices.  Specifically questions are being asked about how best to turn this data into meaningful information to gain greater operational intelligence, optimize the business and ultimately become the market leader.  Junifer's products provide the critical building blocks necessary to achieve these goals.
